Clare Independent TD Says Lack Of Progress In Green Energy Means Moneypoint Must Be Used To Capacity

A Clare Independent TD says the lack of progress in pursuing renewable forms of energy means that Moneypoint must operate to capacity in generating electricity.

New figures from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) show that production at the coal-powered station has increased by 8% in the first 8 months of this year compared to the same time last year.

From January to August 2022, 1,783 GWh of electricity was produced from coal, while the figure was 1,645 GWh in 2021.
