Clare Haven Says Rent Supplement Extension Will Give Domestic Abuse Victims ‘Breathing Space’

The Manager of Services at Clare Haven says the extension of rent supplement to victims of domestic abuse will give them ‘breathing space’ when escaping abusive situations.

The measure, which was first introduced in August in response to the pandemic, has now been made a permanent fixture by the Department of Social Protection.

It will allow victims to access rent supplement for three months to ensure they’re not prevented from leaving their home due to costs.
