Clare GRA Rep Claims Gardaí Concerned Over Impact Of Amalgamation With Tipperary Division

Clare’s GRA representative says Gardaí are concerned at the impact of the continued roll out of the policing model which merges the forces in Clare and Tipperary.

It comes as the Garda Representative Association is continuing to hold its annual conference in Westport county Mayo today, where members are discussing issues including Garda morale, staff retention and an increasing number of assaults on Gardaí.

The Clare and Tipperary divisions were due to begin amalgamating in 2021, but the process was significantly delayed as a result of the pandemic.

Prior to the amalgamation process, Clare had one Chief Superintendent and four Superintendents based in the county and Clare’s GRA Representative Garda Paul Crowley says members here feel the merger isn’t beneficial to the people of Clare.
