Clare-Based ASTI President Says Emigrating Teachers Must Receive Irish Pay Entitlements Upon Return

The Clare-based President of the ASTI is urging the government to allow teachers who worked abroad for a number of years to maintain their place on the Irish pay scale as well as pension entitlements.

It comes as the teaching body has this week accused the Minister for Education of “throwing in the towel” on the teacher recruitment and retention crisis.

As of today there are 102 unfilled teaching positions nationwide.
