Calls In Clare For Empty Garda Stations And Priest’s Houses To Be Brought Back Into Use

There are calls in West Clare for empty Garda stations and priest’s houses to be brought back into use.

It’s after the Government announced Clare Couny Council, along with other local authorities, are to be given up to €400,000 a year to purchase vacant and derelict sites to repurpose as community spaces.

It’s thought old banks, cinemas and convents are among the type of properties that are in line to be restored for other uses.

However, Cross-based Fine Gael Councillor Gabriel Keating is hopeful that will be able to extend to disused Garda barracks’ too.
