15% Drop In Speeding Fines Paid By Clare Drivers

There was a 15% drop in the number of speeding fines paid by drivers in Clare last year.

According to freedom of information figures, just over 4,700 penalties were settled in 2018, with Gardaí collecting 412,840 euro.

But last year the number fell to 3,988, with drivers paying nearly 60,000 less.

The fall comes despite a rise nationally, with over 120,000 speeding fines paid last year, compared to 110,000 the previous year.

Aisling Reid, from the Parc Road Safety Group, says drivers who are speeding are putting lives at risk.
