Clare’s Fine Gael TD is moving to form an all-party committee of midwest Oireachtas members, to safeguard the future of Shannon Airport.
Joe Carey says the Covid-19 crisis has cast a worrying shadow over the county’s airport, which is of vital importance to the entire region and is a catalyst to balanced regional development.
The Clarecastle TD has also written to the Taoiseach and Aer Lingus, in an effort to re-commence the Shannon-Heathrow route, as he says its suspension has impacted on the midwest airport’s corporate jet business operation and development.
Deputy Carey has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he’s seriously concerned about the future of Shannon Airport, which supports a huge number of businesses in the tourism, industrial and commercial sectors.
