A former Clare General Election candidate believes criminal behaviour is becoming more widespread because of a reduced Garda presence.
The comments come ahead of a public meeting called ‘Safer Clare’ to be held by Aontú this Thursday at 8pm in Treacy’s West County Hotel in Ennis.

The Clare/Tipperary Division has seen a 2% reduction in its Garda numbers in the space of a year, with 659 based here as of the end of last year compared to 674 in 2023.
Cooraclare-based nurse June Dillon, who ran for Aontú in the General Election, says it’s never been more difficult to be a Garda.
