Cars Seized During Operation CURB “Dangerously Defective”

Gardaí say a number cars seized during Operation Curb were found to be dangerously defective.

As part of an operation carried out over seven hours last Friday night, members of the Roads Policing unit seized 6 cars they believed were modified to an extent that they posed a danger to the driver and other road users.

The cars were seized, under either Section 20 of the Road Traffic Act or Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act and examined by a Garda Public Service Vehicle Inspector.

Three were found to be dangerously defective, while the other three were not in breach of any legislation.

Inspector Paul Slattery has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that while they’re not our to remove modified cars from the roads, many of them both pose a threat to life and are not covered by insurance.
