A reduction in the number of County Councillors in Clare has seen the total money paid to them in salaries, allowances and expenses drop by nearly €90,000 last year.
Councillors shared just over €820,000, with €440,000 of this going to the successful candidates in May's local elections.
Current Council Cathaoirleach John Crowe, whose income is supplemented by a Mayoral allowance and by expenses paid for foreign trips, was paid the highest amount across the year of €45,190.
His Fine Gael colleague, Joe Cooney, who is the current chair of the Killaloe area Councillors and of the local authority's Environment Committee, received the next highest amount at €35,150 over the twelve-month period.
Another committee chair, Fianna Fáil's Richard Nagle, is the only other Councillor who was paid more than €30,000.
The seven Councillors who began their terms of office in May were paid an average of just under €14,500.
The figures don't include another €13,000 which has been paid to 15 elected representatives by other bodies such as the HSE Health Forum, the Local Government Association and Educational authorities.
