Councillor Hits Out At Clare Tax Income Being Funnelled To Dublin

It’s claimed that funnelling millions of euro in income tax collected by Clare County Council to central Government is “ridiculous”.

So far this year alone, €10 million has been collected in Local Property Tax, €6.5 million came from motor tax and €33 million from commercial rates.

With property tax alone, €2 million of that is sent from Clare to boost the government’s coffers.

Independent Miltown Malbay Councillor Christy Curtin feels that’s an unfair number given the lower income here compared to other counties.
