Optimism has been expressed that the ESB’s plans to revolutionise its operations at Moneypoint Power Station will help sustain greater industrial activity in West Clare.
A largely positive note has been struck by Clare Councillors following a behind-closed-doors briefing given to them by ESB management this week.
Earlier this month, the company announced a multi-billion euro plan which will include an offshore wind-farm and is expected to result in a massive jobs boost for the area.
Lissycasey Fianna Fáil Councillor PJ Kelly is hoping other opportunities will also be explored for Moneypoint, including in the area of trans-shipment, which could see the Shannon Estuary used as a staging post for huge container ships to off-load their containers onto smaller vessels.
