Council To Consider Lodging Objection Of River Shannon To Dublin Pipeline

Clare County Council will consider lodging an objection aimed at halting Uisce Éireann’s plans to pump water from the River Shannon to Dublin.

The €6bn proposal would see 2% of the Parteen Basin’s annual flow extracted and pumped 170km to the Greater Dublin area.

Concern has been expressed that the plans will significantly hinder landowners, farmers and water tourism in Clare.

Killaloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien believes the consequences would be detrimental.

And you can hear more on this on Clare FM’s Morning Focus this Wednesday from 9am.
