Clare County Council says it’s confident its salt stocks are sufficient to get it through the worst of the cold weather.
It comes as Met Éireann has issued an orange weather alert for Clare ahead of extremely cold conditions which will result in widespread severe frost, ice and lying snow.
The national forecaster is warning of dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays and animal welfare issues overnight tonight and tomorrow morning.
Temperatures are expected to dip as low as minus 8 degrees in parts of mid Clare tonight and tomorrow night.
The low temperature/ice alert, which also covers 21 other counties, comes into effect at 8 o’clock tonight and remains in place until 10 o’clock tomorrow morning.
A separate orange warning for the same conditions will re-apply from 6pm on Wednesday through to Thursday, when temperatures in parts of South East Clare in particular are expected to plummet to minus 10 degrees.
Local authority crews are ploughing and gritting priority routes throughout the county this week, with priority one and two roads gritted each morning from 6am, again during the day and finally in the evening from 7pm.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer at Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, Ross Forde says all efforts will be made to treat minor roads where conditions are reported to be of concern.

Meanwhile, more than 20 homes and businesses in South East Clare remain without power following heavy snowfall over the weekend.
ESB crews have been working to restore supply to the 1,500 properties affected in this county over the past two days and the vast majority of those have seen their electricity return.
23 customers connected to the grid in the greater Cratloe area remained in the dark overnight again, however, with supply expected to be restored by five o’clock this evening.
