Just 2 weeks ago, North Clare had the fourth lowest rate of the virus out of Clare’s five electoral areas – now its rate is the highest in the county by quite a margin.

72 cases in the district in the two weeks up to this Monday leave its rate per 100,000 people at 438.8.

75 confirmed cases in the Killaloe electoral area mean its rate has only dropped slightly to 373.

While the Ennis area saw the most new cases at 95 in the past 14 days, its higher population leaves its figure at 307.3 per 100,000 people, and is continuing to fall.

83 people being diagnosed with the virus in the Shannon region sees its number decline slightly to 273.1.

The lowest incidence of the disease in Clare remains in the Kilrush area, with another 50 cases there in the past fortnight seeing its rate remain static at 238.2.

The data suggests case numbers in this county have dropped this week, with HPSC figures showing Clare’s 7 day incidence of the virus is now the lowest in the country.
