Clare GP Doesn’t Expect Sharp Rise In Covid Cases After Testing Criteria Broadened

A prominent North Clare GP says he doesn’t believe that the broadening of testing criteria for COVID-19 will result in a sharp rise in confirmed cases.

Up until now, only those in priority groups could avail of a test, but from today, anyone with symptoms including a cough, fever or shortness of breath can be checked out.

More than 61,000 Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the past week, bringing the total number of tests nationwide close to 215,000.
