A new survey has found that half of people in Clare are feeling more positive about the future after COVID-19.
It’s one of the findings of a survey of over 400 visitors to the Clare FM website, which also finds significant concerns among parents about the re-opening of schools
While 52% said they are at least more positive about the future, only 31% of those who responded to this survey say they are less positive, despite the huge health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 virus.
But yet, this wide-ranging survey also finds areas of concern.
Almost a third of those who said they have children in schools said they would hold them out when schools re-open, amid coronavirus concerns.
54% of people say they missed a funeral they otherwise would have attended during lockdown, with 44% losing out on a family holiday.
Other events missed include Communions and Confirmations, baby showers and anniversary parties while many reported missing out on other chances to be with family members.
For over half of people, they were most looking forward to seeing family once more, as restrictions ease, compared with just 8% who say they’re most excited about going to the pub.
21% said lockdown measures in their area were too relaxed, 7% say they will no longer have a job after lockdown, and one in six say they want to volunteer more in their communities.
There’s a big demand for haircuts too, with half of those responding planning to go to the barber or hairdresser within a month of their re-opening.
