1 In 40 Clare Primary Pupils In INTO Survey Are COVID Positive

A survey from Ireland’s largest teaching union suggests around 1 in every 40 primary school children in Clare have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.

The Irish National Teachers Organisation says it contacted 877 principals nationwide between Tuesday and Thursday last week to assess the level of infection in the school community.

Of the 3,983 primary students in this county, the INTO says 101 of them were reported as COVID positive when the survey was conducted.

It means 2.5 percent of Clare pupils are believed to have the virus currently – well above the national average of 1.6 percent.
