Cooraclare man dies after tragic farm fall

A West Clare man has died following an accident at his farm.

The incident happened near Cooraclare yesterday afternoon.

The deceased man, named locally as Edmund Burke fell from the roof of his hayshed has he was carrying out repairs.

Family members raised the alarm and emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to resuscitate the father of three –

Its also understood that one of his teenag children tried to resuscitate before the medical team arrived

Mr Burke was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out today.

The Health and Safety Authority and Gardaí  has been informed.

Local Councillor Bill Chambers says the entire community is deeply shocked by the sudden death of Mr Burke – particularly as many would have met him at Kilrush Mart yesterday just hours before the tragedy.

He has extended his sympathies to Mr Burke’s wife Mary, sons Damien and Cillian and daughter Zara.
