Disabled people in Clare are being encouraged to come together to share ideas aimed at shaping a fair and equitable cost of disability payment.
A public consultation on the cost of disability is being hosted by the Clare Leader Forum in Ennis next Monday, when people will be given the opportunity to share their views on what a future payment should include and how it should be delivered.
The event, co-facilitated with the Clare Public Participation Network, will inform a submission to the Department of Social Protection.
Research suggests disabled people face additional weekly costs of up to €555, with campaigners calling for broader financial supports, and Co-Founder of the Clare Leader Forum, Ann-Marie Flanagan says assistance is badly needed.
