Construction of flood relief works in the Springfield area of Clonlara is to begin next month.
The €1.79m scheme will provide protection for 18 properties in the area, which has been a flooding blackspot in recent years.
An Bord Pleanála had granted planning permission for the construction of a flood defence embankment in the village late last year, with work having been envisaged to begin back in April.
