Coastal Clean-Up Event Asks Clare People To “Take Ownership Of Their Own Space”

One of the organisers of a coastal clean-up event in Clare believes the county is making strides in tackling litter problems along its waterways.

A major clean-up operation organised by Clean Coasts takes place this weekend in locations across the county such as Spanish Point, the Shannon Estuary and the River Inagh Estuary with the aim of making “a positive impact on the Irish coast and waterways in County Clare”.

A recent survey carried out by Irish Businesses Against Litter noted that Mountshannon has slipped to “moderately littered” status while Doolin pier and harbour and Lahinch beach were both classed as “littered”.
