Clare’s Fine Gael Senator Welcomes Increase Of Medical Card Income Threshold

Clare’s Fine Gael Senator says the announcement of an increase in the qualifying threshold for medical cards for over 70’s is better late than never.

From November 1st, the qualifying eligible income for those applying for a medical card will increase for a single person over 70 from €500 to €550 and for a couple from €900 to €1,050.

While these changes were introduced in Budget 2020 and originally due to take place on July 1st, delays happened as a result of the general election and successive caretaker government.
