Clarecare, the county's largest not for profit agency, provides a range of supports for the vulnerable in society.

These include parent and family support, adoption, counselling and addiction services, services for the elderly, and citizens information.

It's annual report shows that over 195,000 home help hours and more than 55,000 Home Care Package hours were delivered to people in Clare in 2015.

11,000 meals were provided in people's homes and a further 11,000 at meal centres. Specialised social workers for older people received over 4,200 contacts in face to face meetings, telephone calls and written enquiries.

941 adult counselling hours were provided by qualified councellors in 2015. 126 clients completed a 28-day residential treatment programme for people addicted to alcohol, gambling or drugs at Bushypark.

And, over 2,100 parents availed of the Family support services last year.

But the agency is now full to capacity and it has expressed concern that the inability to take on extra cases will impact on the most vulnerable in the county.
