Clare VFI Chair Says Pub Trade In The County In ‘Terminal Decline’

The Clare Chair of the Vintner’s Federation of Ireland says the pub trade in this county is in ‘terminal decline’.

It comes as new figures released by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland show that between 2005 and 2021, 92 pubs in Clare closed – 10 of those during the pandemic.

It’s a near 25 percent drop on 2005’s numbers in this county, with calls now being made for the government to cut excise duty in order to support to the sector.
