Clare TD Slams Health Minister’s Trolley Comments As Midwest Overcrowding Crisis Persists

A Clare TD has slammed comments by the Health Minister praising a marginal reduction in trolley numbers over the St Brigid’s weekend.

According to the HSE’s Trolleygar report, there were 25% fewer patients waiting on trolleys at 8am after the Bank Holiday weekend, compared to same period last year.

However, figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show University Hospital Limerick was actually more overcrowded this year, with 118 patients without a bed, even with the opening of the new 96 bed block.

Shannon Sinn Féin Deputy Donna McGettigan has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan the Government should focus on action not back patting.
