Clare Saint Vincent De Paul insists the government must ensure there are no barriers to education for low-income families.

A new SVP survey shows that 87% of parents had to cut back on spending to pay secondary school voluntary contributions.

The average voluntary contribution was €140 per child, but parents surveyed found themselves paying anywhere up to €550.
