Clare Social Democrats Chair Insists School Transport Scheme Not Fit For Purpose

The Clare branch of the Social Democrats insists the State’s current approach to school transport isn’t working for families in this county.

Minister for Education Norma Foley is expected to bring a review of the school transport scheme to Government which would see the distance threshold reduced, thus making thousands more children eligible.

However, the new approach would also see the price of primary and post-primary tickets rise from €50 to €75 and €75 to €150 respectively.
