A new proposal from the Clare Social Democrats would only permit locals who can prove that a development would directly impact their daily lives to object to a planning application.
It follows nationwide reports of “serial objectors” lodging illegitimate appeals in order to extract pay-offs from developers and subsequently delaying construction works.
The suggestion from the Clare Branch would implement a tiered system, where the importance of the build relevant to an individuals location, would determine who can appeal.
