A Clare Senator is calling for an urgent action to address delays in issuing colposcopy results after a woman was left waiting five months.

Approximately 12,000 women a year are identified as having abnormal smear test results, with many referred for a colposcopy to determine if precancerous cells are present.

Green Party Senator, Róisín Garvey has raised the lengthy delays reported to her for results from the procedures carried out at University Hospital Limerick in the Seanad.
