Clare School Principal Says Pay Scales For Teachers Must Be Levelled Out

The Principal of a Clare Secondary School insists that pay scales for teachers simply have to be levelled out.

It comes as figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that a severe shortage of teachers has led to schools across the country hiring more than 14,000 unqualified people.

While a survey carried out by the Teachers Union of Ireland found that 91 per cent of secondary schools reported difficulties in recruiting teachers in the past six months.
