Clare Records Highest Badger Cull Rate So Far This Year

The Cratloe based Chair of the Irish Cattle & Sheep Farmers Association claims the targeted culling of badgers is essential in curtailing the spread of bovine tuberculosis.

Figures released to the Dáíl show that 229 badgers have been systematically eliminated in Clare so far this year, representing the highest total nationwide.

This comes despite recent efforts from the Department Of Agriculture to mitigate the spread of the TB through immunisation with approximately 18,528 badgers being captured for vaccination since 2020.
