A Clare primary school principal claims additional school staff are being included in teacher numbers, making the pupil-teacher ratio appear better than it is in the classroom.
It comes as 9% of pupils in this county are learning in oversized classes of 35 or more, despite the average class size in Ireland falling to below 23.

By comparison, the average class size across the rest of Europe is just 19 pupils.
