Clare Priest Insists Catholic Education Is Still Sought By Parents

It’s claimed parents in Clare are still seeking a Catholic education for their children, despite efforts by the Education Minister to remove the Baptism barrier from schools.

Richard Bruton is reviving the divestment process which would see the transfer of religious-run schools to new multi or non-denominational patrons.

A previous attempt in 2012 resulted in only 10 of the 2,800 primary schools in Ireland transferring out of the patronage of Catholic Bishops.
