The Chair of the Clare Older People’s Council insists it’s vital that the advance of technology doesn’t result in a significant portion of our population being left behind.
It follows the Age Friendly Ireland National Older People’s Councils (OPC) Convention, which saw up to 200 people gather to discuss the pressing issue of the technology gap experienced by older demographics.
The latest census results show there are 806,000 people over 65 in the country and this number is projected to increase by 66% over the next two decades.
Maurice Harvey says as more business push towards online services, it’s essential that the older demographic isn’t isolated.
