Clare’s Oireachtas members collectively own six rental properties.
The newly-published register of interests for TDs and senators reveals three of the county’s five Oireachtas members list ‘landlord’ as an occupation.
Members of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann are required to make an annual statement of their registrable interests.
These include other occupations and directorships they hold, shares and properties they own, and gifts they’ve received.
In the latest disclosure, three Clare Oireachtas members, namely Bodyke Fine Gael TD Joe Cooney, Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway and Tulla Fianna Fáil Minister of State Timmy Dooley, cite ‘letting’ as a source of income.
Deputy Cooney admits to owning two rental properties located in Scariff and Newmarket-on-Fergus.
Senator Conway’s entry states he has tenancies in both Ennis and Ennistymon, one of which comprises a commercial unit and two apartments on long-term let while the other is on long-term let to Clare County Council.
Additionally, he’s disclosed that he’s a non-executive board member of the CARA Centre on Munster Technological University’s Tralee campus in Kerry as well as of Vision Ireland.
Minister of State Dooley has revealed he owns two rental properties in Dublin 4 as well as an area of woodland in Mountshannon.
The entry for Meelick TD Cathal Crowe names ‘farmer’ as occupation and says he owns farmland in Meelick and Cratloe as well as a derelict farmhouse in Meelick.
Deputy Crowe has also disclosed his ownership of two “static” shares each of €500 in value in Sixmilebridge Mart – neither of which he says yield any annual dividend.
Shannon Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan’s entry meanwhile states she has no interests to declare.
