Clare Mother Labels ICTU Comments As “Reckless”

A Clare-based mother has labelled a new call from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions as “reckless”.

As of this week, jobseekers benefit will be tied to previous earnings and PRSI contributions for the first three months of some losing their job.

The maximum payment will now be €450 and the ICTU has welcomed the move, while suggesting it should be extended to maternity and paternity leave.

Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Crusheen mother Deborah Kett says this call will only raise people’s hopes in vain.
