A Clare MEP has questioned if political lobbying is the cause of proposed amendments to new artificial intelligence laws.
The Artificial Intelligence Act is a European Union regulation which came into force on August 1st 2024 and establishes a common regulatory and legal framework for AI within the European Union.

The provisions of the act are coming into effect gradually and will all be in operation within 36 months of the act’s introduction.
Speaking in the European Parliament, Scariff-based Independent MEP Michael McNamara says it’s highly unusual to propose amending legislation in its infancy.
