Clare Animal Welfare has reiterated the call for a dedicated Animal Welfare Officer in the county following a serious incident of alleged animal abuse.
A year-old Whippet, named Gloria, sustained serious injuries which nearly resulted in the loss of two paws after allegedly being attacked by a gang of youths.

Gloria is recovering in a foster home, but Clare Animal Welfare says this situation raises concerns over the treatment of animals.
Its Director and Treasurer Stiofán MacGabhann, says a system where people can properly report issues is urgently needed.
