Men across County Clare are being encouraged to take one small but significant step towards better health and wellbeing.
Men’s Health Week runs from today until Sunday, with a focus on improving men’s health and wellbeing.
Men’s Health Week is being coordinated by Clare County Council as part of its Health and Wellbeing Programme, in partnership with a number of stakeholders.
These include the HSE, Mental Health Ireland, Men’s Development Network, Clare Sports Partnership, Clare FM and community groups.
A week-long programme of activities, discussions and awareness initiatives has been organised across the county to support men in focusing on their health, making positive changes and accessing support where needed.
Mayor of Clare and Clarecastle Fine Gael Councillor Paul Murphy says men sometimes need a little nudge when it comes to looking after their wellbeing.
At the heart of the campaign is the County Clare ‘One Small Step’ Pledge, which encourages men to commit to a simple action that will benefit their health.
Men can take the pledge themselves, or it can be made on their behalf by a family member, friend or colleague with their permission and participants will also have the chance to win prizes.
Healthy Ireland Co-ordinator with Clare County Council, Joan Tarmey, says improving your health doesn’t always require major changes.
