It’s claimed the immediate re-introduction of universal energy credits is needed to appropriately support struggling Clare families.
It comes ahead of a public meeting on the cost of living set to be hosted by Sinn Féin tonight at half 7 in Treacy’s Oakwood Hotel in Shannon.

Energy credits were phased out in budget 2026 in favour of more targeted supports, however the latest figures from the CRU show half a million families nationwide remain in arrears.
Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty who’ll speaking at tonight’s meeting says it’s clear urgent action is needed.
