It looks like the marriage referendum will be passed by a large majority across the country including here in Clare.
With 112 boxes now open in Clare, earliy tallies suggest that 57.7 per cent have voted in favour of same sex marriage.
The counting of votes started at 9am this morning at Ennis Courthouse and it wasn't long before there was clear indications the YES vote was stronger.
According to tallies, the majority of towns and villages across the county have voted in favour of same sex marriage – Ballyvaughan is standing out with 73 per cent yes vote.
A number of boxes have returned a no vote though including one in Corofin and Killaloe as well as Ballinruane, Furglan, Cranny and Cahermurphy.
The postal vote also rejected the referendum with 57.2 percent voting no.
Preliminary figures show that turnout in Clare was 59 per cent.
The official result is not yet known but it;s expected by Mid-afternoon.
