Clare Independent TD Calls For Enhancement Of Rail Services Serving Rural Communities

A Clare Independent TD claims the enhancement of the rail network serving the East of the county would perfectly complement the incoming Killaloe bypass.

It follows the publication of the Draft All-Island Rail Strategy Review this week which has recommended the development of a rail spur connecting Shannon Airport to the main line.

Irish Rail meanwhile, has confirmed its intention to increase the frequency of services connecting Ennis to Limerick Colbert, pending a feasibility study.

However Scariff Deputy, Michael McNamara believes additional services are also needed at Birdhill Station in Tipperary to reflect the growing demand for infrastructure in the Killaloe catchment area.
