The number of adults in Clare recorded as being homeless has risen above 100 for the first time.
The latest figures from the Department of Housing reveal homelessness is once again at an all-time high in Ireland with more than 17,000 living in emergency accommodation at the end of January.
It’s the first time the national figure has breached 17,000, with a total of 17,112 availing of State accommodation in the last week of January.
Of these, 11,793 were adults and 5,319 were children.
Turning to Clare, 106 adults were living in homelessness in the week in question, up from 98 in December, making it the first time the number has broken 100.
Across the Midwest region, a total of 674 adults and 302 children were availing of emergency accommodation last month.
