Clare recorded the highest electric vehicle sales growth of any county in 2023.
Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show that 421 new electric vehicles were sold here last year which is up 250 the previous year, representing an increase of 68%.
Petrol remains the most popular engine type in Clare, making up 27% of total sales, closely followed by diesel at 25% and petrol electric at 22%.
Director General of SIMI Brian Cooke says the only way for electric vehicle sales to see further growth is with committed government support.
