Clare Green Senator Says Cross-Party Support Needed For Acceleration Of Climate Pledges

Clare’s Green Party Senator says cross-party support will be needed for the accleration of the country’s climate action pledges.

The second day of the two-week Cop27 climate conference gets underway in Egypt today, where much of the focus is on international climate finance to help under-developed countries sustain the economic costs of environmental action.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin will address the conference today and is set to outline how Ireland’s delivery on climate targets needs to be expedited.

The Minister for the Environment Eamon Ryan, and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney are also attending the global event in Sharm El-Sheikh today.

Inagh-based Green Party Senator, Róisín Garvey, says some parties have been quiet on climate issues and insists now is the time to speak up.
