Clare GP Wants Practitioners To Be Involved As Much As Possible In Over 70s Vaccine Rollout

A Clare GP is calling on health officials to ensure that practitioners here and elsewhere are still as involved in administering COVID-19 vaccines where possible.

There are fears that people living in remote rural areas will now find it more difficult to be vaccinated, after the decision to not give AstraZeneca, which is easier to transport and store, to people over the age of 70.

Doses of that jab will start arriving next week, and will be given to healthcare workers, with Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccine to be given to older people.

Lahinch GP and IMO Committee member Dr Michael Kelleher says even if people are required to be vaccinated outside of a GP surgery, practitioners should still be involved as much as they can.
