Clare Government TD Says State’s Finances Won’t Be Hit By Tech Layoffs

A Clare Government TD insists the latest wave of layoffs in the technology sector won’t damage the state’s finances.

Mass redundancies in Twitter, Stripe and Facebook’s parent company Meta have sparked concern that the government’s tax take, which this year funded cost-of-living measures in the Budget, could be badly hit.

However, Clarecastle Fine Gael TD Joe Carey says the country’s economy is no longer reliant on a sole sector.
