Gardaí in Clare are warning people to exercise caution while online dating and not to be romanced into a scam.
It comes after a young man, who was using an online dating app, provided his personal mobile number to a person he believed was a female and a series of texts containing pictures were exchanged.

A demand was subsequently made for a sum of money to be paid, under threat of the pictures and videos being posted online.
Clare’s Crime Prevention Oficer, Sergeant Triona Brooks says people should alway be wary of requests for inappropriate photos.
