Clare’s Garda representative claims members of the force are being pulled and dragged in all directions, as they attempt to provide a service in this county that simply isn’t working.
The Garda Representative Association is calling for a review of the Operating Policing Model, which saw the number of Garda divisions reduced, resulting in new merged divisions such as Clare and Tipperary.
Issues around pay, conditions and morale are also high on the agenda at the GRA’s annual conference taking place this week, with those attending hearing of frontline officers under pressure and many quitting the force early.
Clare GRA Rep, Garda Paul Crowley says it’s rare to see all elements of staff associations unified in their view that the policing model has failed and he’s calling on the Justice Minister to take urgent action.
